ABOUT ME
I am a native of the Bay Area, raised in San Francisco. I hold a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in education, focusing on higher education administration and policy from universities in Southern California. I also attended law school in San Francisco. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in political science at a local university in San Francisco. I am a humanist; therefore, I strongly believe in the right to personal freedom, self-autonomy, the right to progress, and dignity. I am fascinated by American politics and policy initiatives. I stay informed about developments in the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. Additionally, I am interested in international relations, mainly concerning the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the Middle East.
For intellectual pursuits, I enjoy literature and philosophy, especially political philosophy focusing on colonialism or feminism. Some of my favorite philosophers are Frantz Fanon, Aimé Césaire, Silvia Federici, and Simone de Beauvoir. Additionally, I adore Shakespeare and Ernest Hemingway; my favorite book is Hemingway’s Old Man and the Sea. While living in France, I visited Café Flore, where Simone de Beauvoir and Ernest Hemingway often went during the height of their literary careers. I also visited Shakespeare and Company because I liked the name, which is owned by the descendants of poet Walt Whitman and the founder, George Whitman, a journalist. I love books in general and enjoy exploring libraries. In France, I visited the National Library of France, named after former President François Mitterrand. Its purpose is to collect, catalog, preserve, and share French heritage. Since the French colonized my ancestors, I have an interest in French colonialism.
Moreover, I consider myself a feminist. I discovered a fascinating library called the Jean-Pierre Melville Media Library, which houses the Marguerite Durand heritage library and specializes in the history of women and feminism while living abroad. Marguerite Durand was a well-known French journalist and feminist in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I also became interested in a group called Lallab, a feminist and anti-racist organization in France that advocates for and defends Muslim women's rights. My other interests include cinema, especially directors like Albert Hickock. I also enjoy the acting of Betty Davis, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marilyn Monroe. I like street art and have found some of the most interesting pieces in Oakland, California, and Paris, France. I enjoy listening to music, particularly rock, rap, and pop. Lastly, one of my favorite activities is dressing up in costumes, and I usually dress up for Halloween.
